Dropping the Bomb on Hiroshima

On Aug. 6, 1945, the United States dropped "Little Boy," an atomic bomb, on the city of Hiroshima, Japan. Though Germany had already surrendered and many Japanese cities had been destroyed, the Japanese persisted in their war effort, leading the U.S. to decide that an atomic bombing was necessary.
